Guitar Amps

The humble guitar amp is one of musics unsung heros. Not only to they dramatically increase the volume of sound, but also adjust the effect of the sound being produced. The results range from a clean pure tone through to a distorted buzzy sound favoured by many rock guitarists.

Originally created in the early 1930´s, early amplifiers were originally created for the acoustic market. This trend changed when musical tastes moved to the Hawaian sound that became popular shortly after. Even the earliest models of guitar amplifier had effects though the sounds produced lacked high treble and bass which wasnt rectified until muck later.

During the 1960´s the Kinks set the trend for overdriving their amps producing a highly distorted sound that became the bands signiture style. This effect was later integrated into standard guitar amp construction, helping to make amps safer to use and less prone to failure.

There are currently two forms of amp available today:

Combo Amps

Combo amps bring together amp heads, and preamps, effects processors, power amplifier and speakers into one box or cabinet.

Amp Stacks

The amp stack breaks apart the integrated elements of a combo amp allowing for the individual systems to be upgraded and modified as required.
